Purpose of the Online Karate Kata practice & Demonstrations

The purpose of the Online Karate Kata practice & Demonstrations is not to compete in the superiority or inferiority of techniques and forms with others, but rather to mutually encourage and improve one another. It is akin to training in dojos under the guidance of Grandmasters in Okinawa and confirming the differences with the Grandmasters.

What is "Online Karate Kata practice & Demonstrations"?

Opportunities to experience Okinawan traditional karate through the internet, such as through social media or video streaming, have been increasing. On the other hand, when it comes to learning activities, video viewing is limited in providing feedback to the viewer due to its one-way nature. Therefore, with the cooperation of Grand masters in Okinawa, the birthplace of karate, we have decided to hold an online karate martial arts exhibition where participants can assess the results of your daily training from your own country.

Participants can watch the Enbu of renowned Grandmasters in Okinawan karate, engage in your own training, and submit videos. Then, you can quantitatively assess the differences between your own demonstration and Grandmaster’s exemplary demonstration, receive feedback from the Grandmaster, and hopefully apply it to your training.

Feedback for Participants

1. Machine Evaluation: Quantify the differences from the grandmaster enbu using skeletal sensing (visualized
with a radar chart).
2. Grandmaster’s Commentary: Grandmasters provide feedback on individual aspects of the demonstration,
such as speed, strength, and rhythm.
3. Mutual comments: Your demonstration video will be posted on the event’s YouTube channel, so exchange
supportive comments with other participants.
